What would you do if I sang out of tune?

We all make mistakes and bad decisions in our lives.  It is part of human nature for us to do so.  Sometimes those mistakes and bad decisions are very hurtful.  We don't even realize it most of the time that we have really hurt someone.  It is kind of like singing a song in the car or in the shower.  We are singing at the top of our lungs and we don't even realize that we are out of tune.  We just keep singing and singing because there is no other there to tell us we are doing it wrong.

We often "sing out of tune" when we make a decision that hurts someone.  The difference between the actually singing out of tune in the shower and when we make a wrong decision is that there is often someone there that is hurt by our decision.  That person may not even say anything to us when it happens, They may just let it go.  That is the problem.  We can't fix something that we don't realize is broken.  The even worse thing is that it is our fault in the first place.

Friends, you need to say something when we make a bad decision or a mistake that hurts you.  You need to let us know when we have sung out of tune and done something wrong.  The only way we know is if you call us on it.  It is not an easy thing to do.  No one wants to call out their friends, but I would rather you call me out then to be mad at me over something I don't know that I did.

Singing in tune is such a hard thing to do.  Being mindful of everything you say is a hard thing to do.  Although we have control over it, making bad decisions is a bad thing to do.  We can only hope that there are friends out there that will give us singing lessons and help us out when we trip on a note.

So when you here the question:  What would you do if I sang out of tune?  Make sure to help that person with the notes.  Push them to the right melody.  Tell them what key they should be in.  Just make sure they know that something is wrong and that they are "singing out of tune!"
